It’s in the core of my being. I need home. You need home. We all seek a place or a space to call our own. I was very young when I first felt the warm fuzzies while admiring cozy and sophisticated design. When I was little I would steal my mom’s copies of Country Living and Better Homes and Gardens out of the mail pile before she could even think about flipping through them. I spent weeknights watching This Old House and Bob Vila’s Home Again with my dad. I’d beg my parents to let me go with them on our local Parade of Homes Tour every summer.
I have always loved the idea of home.
I pined for the days that I’d have my own house, a handsome husband and a dog who lays regally in our front yard. I’ve never been career oriented… just house wife oriented; by that I mean I’ve always desired to be in charge of the household.
A couple of years ago, a kind woman I know planted the idea of creating home (an updated take on homemaking) into my head and my heart. She painted a beautiful picture of raising children, making tea for worried friends, celebrating birthdays, inviting in those who need hope, mindfully and tastefully decorating, seeking grace and giving grace. Creating Home is her passion and I knew that it’d one day be mine too.
That day is here! So with her gracious consent, I have started create:HOME in the hopes of sharing the step by step changes of my husband’s and my home to inspire and encourage you. We have normal full time jobs, I don’t have a fancy camera and we try our best to save up for big projects. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love seeing all the beauty and design ideas on Pinterest and Houzz but ours is a home starting from scratch.
I’m so excited and thankful to continue this journey of creating my home!
How will you create yours?
